AWARD ENTRY PROCESS DETAILS


 

The Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter of ACI (EPDACI) is pleased to announce its 2026 Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards program that honors the visions of some of the most creative projects that concrete has to offer. Concrete projects of all types are eligible to receive an award in this competition. Entries will be juried by an independent panel of industry professionals. First-place awards may be given in each category. Awards will be presented at the awards banquet held at The Inn at Villanova University in Wayne, PA on Thursday evening, April 30, 2026.

CATEGORIES


  1. Low-Rise Buildings – Up to Three Stories - Residential (multi-family and houses), school, commercial, warehouse and industrial, etc.
  2. Mid Rise Buildings – Four to Fifteen Stories
  3. High Rise Buildings – More than Fifteen Stories
  4. Infrastructure - Bridges, site structures, water resource structures, marine structures, other transportation structures
  5. Decorative Concrete - Counters, furniture, exterior & interior finishes, ornamentation, etc.
  6. Repair and Restoration
  7. Flatwork
  8. Innovation – Sustainability – Resilience

RULES


  1. Only official entry forms will be accepted.
  2. Submissions will be accepted for projects designed or constructed within the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware regions.
  3. At the discretion of the Chapter, one submission can be carried over to the next year, if the submission did not receive an award during the 2025 competition.
  4. The entry must highlight the innovative use of concrete as a principal construction element.
  5. The entry must demonstrate creativity and innovation in the application of concrete technology.
  6. A minimum of four to maximum of eight photos shall be submitted with each entry. In lieu of one of the photos, the entry may include a 90 second time-lapse video. No animations will be accepted. Concrete should be featured in some of the photos and construction of photos of concrete are also encourages.
  7. Submission deadline is Friday, March 13, 2026.

JUDGING


Judging will be accomplished by a panel of uniquely qualified professionals representing diverse backgrounds; technical expertise in all award categories; and domestic, international, and global project experience. Winning entries will be submitted by the EPDACI Chapter for nomination to the National ACI 2025 Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards.

 

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

✔ Architectural merit

✔ Engineering merit

✔ Creativity

✔ Innovative construction techniques or solutions

✔ Innovative use of materials

✔ Ingenuity

✔ Sustainability and resilience

✔ Functionality and end use suitability

CONCRETE DESCRIPTION


Each entry must include a 500-word description of how concrete was featured in the project. It should also cover the complexity and uniqueness of the project. It may include information such as:

  • Special features of the concrete
  • Degree of difficulty
  • Project challenges
  • Ecological and environmental factors
  • Problem solving
